In Outlook, how do I search through the ADS Global Address List if I'm using IMAP?
If you use Outlook to read a Cyrus mail account through IMAP, you can access the Global Address List (GAL) by adding it as an LDAP service.
Note: These instructions do not apply if Outlook is configured for an Exchange account. When using Exchange, Outlook reads the GAL natively, and does not need LDAP.
Outlook 2002 and 2003
Before you can query the GAL from Outlook, you must configure LDAP by following these steps:
1. In Outlook, from the Tools menu, select E-mail Accounts... .
2. Select Add a new directory or address book and click Next.
3. Select Internet Directory Service (LDAP) and click Next.
4. In the "Server Name:" field, type "yourservername.domain.name" . Under "Logon Information", check the box labeled This server requires me to log on.
5. Type your username and password. You must put domainname\ before your username, for example: domain\mali
Then click More Settings... .
6. You will get a message saying "The E-mail account you have just added will not start until you choose Exit from the File menu, and then restart Microsoft Office Outlook". Click OK to continue.
7. Check the box next to Use Secure Sockets Layer. Then click the Search tab.
8. In the "Search base:" field, type the following (there are no spaces after the commas): dc=domaincontroller,dc=domain,dc=tld
9. Click OK, then Next, and then Finish. |
